My query is related to education cess being charged. The following are my queries \n\n1) From which date education cess is being charged\n2) How much is the percentage of education cess being charged\n3) Till 31-December, 2015, what is the total collection under education cess\n4) What is the objective of utilising the collected funds under education cess\n5) How much money has been spent over mid-day meal scheme\n6) How much money is allocated to Higher Education schemes\n7) May I know the total amount that has been spent on the earnings through education cess\n8) Where does the government plan to utilise the remaining funds and the funds that shall be collected in future\n9) Who is responsible if the funds collected are underutilised or misutilised\n10) Is Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme going to be funded partially or fully from education cess budget \n11) If it is partially, then how much will be the contribution from education cess funds

In this connection, it is intimated that the Education Cess is collected by the Central Board of Direct Taxes. The IFD, MHRD does not have any information regarding collection of Education Cess and its disbursal. \n\nYou are, therefore, requested to contact the Department of Central Board of Direct Taxes for obtaining the information. Point No.5 to 11 do not concern IFD, MHRD. You are requested to contact the concerned divisions in MHRD for obtaining the information on these points.
