Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025
The Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 was held on 29.07.2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, marking the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, ABSS 2025 served as a platform for academicians, policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and government representatives to review the remarkable progress made under NEP 2020 and chart the way forward.
Union Education Minister; Minister of State for Education & Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Minister of State for Education & Development of North Eastern Region; and Education Ministers from 13 States / UTs also graced the occasion including;

Around 3000 Participants attended the inaugural session which included Prominent academicians; Chairperson; Head of Autonomous Bodies under MoE; Regional Officers of CBSE, KVS, NVS; VCs / Directors / Heads of HEIs, senior officials from other Ministries, State Education Secretaries, State Project Directors of Samagra Shiksha, SCERT Directors, Startup Founders; School students & teachers were present on the occasion & Officials from Ministry of Education.
Hon’ble Education Minister launched the following initiatives of Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) and Department of Higher Education (DoHE):
Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL)
Major infrastructure developments included the inauguration of the CBSE Regional Office in Patna, new campuses of Navodaya Vidyalayas across multiple states, and six new Kendriya Vidyalayas. Foundation stones were laid for the Regional Institute of Education in Nellore and NCERT’s new Central Administrative Building in Delhi. In line with inclusive education goals, significant progress was made under flagship schemes like PM JANMAN and DA-JGUA. Under PM JANMAN, 492 hostels have been sanctioned so far, with 75 foundation stones laid on July 29, 2025. Similarly, under DA-JGUA, 692 hostels have been approved, of which 309 were inaugurated across 12 states. Additionally, 22 KVS projects, 613 PM SHRI Schools, 24 Kendriya Vidyalayas, and 7 Navodaya Vidyalayas were dedicated to the nation. Several digital and student-centric initiatives were launched, including the TARA App Portal—leveraging AI/ML to improve reading fluency among students of Grades 3–8—and the My Career Advisor App, developed in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation and PSSCIVE to provide personalized career guidance. The Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) was also launched to assess schools on cleanliness, maintenance, and environmental sustainability through a five-star rating framework.
Department of Higher Education (DoHE)
DoHE marked the occasion with initiatives aimed at innovation, skilling, and internationalization. The National Testing Service launched a web-based Local Language Proficiency Test Portal to assess reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in 22 scheduled Indian languages. The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) was expanded with an AI Apprenticeship Programme, co-funded by the government and industry, targeting one lakh students with a total investment of ₹500 crore. Institutions such as IIT BHU and IIT Delhi rolled out redesigned, NEP-aligned curricula offering flexible, interdisciplinary learning with multiple entry/exit options. IIT Ropar introduced ViBe, an AI-powered adaptive learning platform providing real-time feedback and mastery tracking for students. The Bhasha Sagar App was launched under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative to facilitate multilingual learning in all 22 Indian languages, removing the dependency on English as a medium. The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems and Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Sanskrit (IKS-ED) was established at Deccan College in collaboration with Central Sanskrit University, with digital access supported through the KoshaSHRI Portal developed by C-DAC Pune. In addition, numerous buildings and academic facilities were inaugurated across IITs, NITs, and Central Universities to strengthen infrastructure. Furthered with the presentation of Letters of Intent to four foreign universities—Western Sydney University, Victoria University, La Trobe University, and University of Bristol—for establishing their campuses in India, reflecting India’s growing status as a global education hub.
Followed by four thematic sessions namely Use of Bharatiya Bhasha in Teaching-Learning, Anusandhan and Prime Minister’s Research Fellows (PMRF): Nurturing India’s Next Generation of Academic and Industry Leadership, Re-envisioning Secondary Education to achieve 100% GER by 2030 and COE in AI for Education-Transforming Teaching and Learning Ecosystem.
